How much of your household's train engine consumption are you responsible for?

Let's say a survey asks you something ridiculous.

How much of your household's train engine consumption are you responsible for?

Clearly, neither you nor anyone is your household has eaten a train engine.
So out of all the train engines eaten by your household that is as many as you have eaten, thus all of it.
But it's an equal number to every other household member, thus some of it.
But you still haven't eaten a train engine no matter what it's compared to, thus none.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was, and now what I'm with isn't it. And what's "it" seems weird and scary to me.

I'd vote none.

The question of how much consumption is going on is a separate question, and two of the three answers imply there is some going on, so the none option is the only one that makes sense to me.

I think that he's getting at the fact that in logic, all of nothing is true (or, it's true that all items in the empty set have whatever property).

there's various reasons for this. you can think of All as being equivalent to "not any not". so, it's true that there are not any items in the empty set that don't have whatever property. (ie, "all" of the items have the property).

it's true, but it's also a vacuous truth, similar to a tautology.

I talked about this relatively recently but can't remember if it was on gamefaqs.

This. I'd interpret it as the questioner either proposing a deliberately ambiguous question in an attempt to falsify data ("Yes or no answer, have you stopped beating your wife lately?"), or a moron proposing an accidentally ambiguous answer because they were too stupid to realize the wording was confusing and too lazy/cheap/etc to get someone to proofread their work.

Either way, I'd probably refuse to answer on the grounds of it being a bullshit question.
