Is that Microsoft is constantly losing money on games, I was under the impression elements of their corporate wanted to scale back on video games, what happened here?

Nah they've been buying developers for the past couple years, this is just by far the biggest acquisition. They're doubling down on games, not scaling back.

Oh I know, I was aware I just hadn't really thought about until now because this is a huge purchase. I'm just wondering why and how this came about. Minecraft presumably prints money but ZeniMax ips would need a lot more input and work to be profitable so it is a strange turn of events from a decade ago or whenever what I mentioned came up
