if you want to buy in to the theories that you want a new character to coincide with a new game announcement you got Ninja Gaiden Trilogy likely getting announced at TGS this week on switch and ps4

Plus Koei-Tecmo clearly has a close relationship with Nintendo right now letting them make a canon BotW prequel

7-11 theory lines up with this, the ads there end on 10/4. I remember last time 7-11 theory was prevalent people laughed at it but the day the ad ended was when Banjo was revealed so suck on a fucking slurpee haters

Just go the Byleth route. Link can use all their abilities, so it makes sense to put him in over any single champion.

Eh, Min Min was a weird choice but they did it anyway. I think it'll be Urbosa if they go that route, she's the most popular (I think) and it would help with the gender balance.

they'd have to rework regular Link since he already has elements of BotW into his gameplay so I kinda doubt that would happen unless you're just fine with a redundant skill set and make him a Link Echo or something

The only thing that regular Link has from BotW is the remote bomb, I think.

He has the look though, it'd be hard to market him as a new character if they're both wearing the blue tunic. BotW Zelda would make much more sense.

Yeah, it could work as a Zelda Echo since her design is based on Link Between Worlds, not BotW.

It's supposed to be 6 Fighters by the end of 2021, so it'd be surprising not to get another character in October.

July-October-January-April-July-October - Something like that? Gives some space for an extra month here or there.

Well Ryu Hayabusa and Monster Hunter are both on my PREDICTED FOR SMASH PASS 2 list so I'd say my chances of being correct are pretty good right about now!

Not that I'm happy about it, but hey, being right is fun too!

I can see a Monster Hunter rep but probably not til next year around Rise's release. Ryu H would be cool but I really see them going more first party this pass. Athena would be the most disappointing AA rep they could possibly do, so sure.

Agreed. If Sakurai (or whoever is to blame) really wanted to have that cake and eat it, too, they could at least give us something like Wolf Link mounted by Midna. But I think Skull Kid is still my first choice for a new Zelda addition.
