PCs don't just come with HDMI-in. You need a capture card to get video from a game console onto your computer.

Unless you literally mean a monitor. In which case...yes? The main difference between a monitor and a TV these days is the presence of built-in speakers.

Ohh yeah sorry, I meant monitor.

tbh I'm not computer savy but my TV died so I was looking to getting a new one but what I have heard is that computer monitors have much betetr refresh rates for gaming so might as well move over to that.

Yeah you can easily use a monitor if it has HDMI. It should be a standard input for any monitor these days.

You'd need a sound system at that point or the use of a headset because like someone mentioned a monitor doesn't have the built in speakers

There's really not much difference there in this situation. Game consoles cap out at 60fps for virtually all games (and the Switch in particular runs most 3D games at 30fps). There's no need to get anything with a higher refresh rate than 60Hz, which is the universal standard for video displays.

Well sort of. A lot may use DVI or DisplayPort instead. But if you're unable to get an HDMI-compatible one for whatever reason, adapters are super cheap.

Alright gonna check out the local shop and look out for whatever has 60hz which I believe should be most because IIRC 120hz and 240hz are the heavy hitters IIRC.

a PC monitor is not gonna advertise the 4k resolution thingie? cause I'm meaning to get the PS5 as well and might as well have that be capable of doing so, but I'm not sure if it is advertised as with TVs.

Yeah, you can use a computer monitor for your ps4. I have mines hooked up right now via hdmi... just dont expect any sound unless your computer monitor offers it

TBH, you really don't need to concern yourself with stuff like refresh rates when it comes to console gaming. Literally any monitor made within the last 15 years will do what you need it to there. BTW, if you see something other than Hz for the refresh rate (like "Motionflow 240" or some such nonsense), it's a marketing scam designed to make you think the monitor is better than it really is, and is most likely a 60Hz monitor. Not too much of a concern since you only need 60Hz anyway, but just don't get suckered into thinking you're getting a good deal.

As for resolution, that IS important, and it will always be displayed on the box/store page. I definitely recommend 4K (which may be listed as 3840x2160 or 2160p) if you're going to get a PS5.

Thank you for the info, tbh the refresh is important because the last two HD I got one looked all blurry as fuck, one back when HDTVs were starting to be a thing and my "latest" TV which just died was back from 2013 and while not as ridiculously blurry as my first one, it still didn't look that great when things were in motion. so fluid movement would be a huge thing for me, third time is the charm as they say.

60hz is good enough though, noted.

Refresh rate has nothing to do with blurriness. That's either the native resolution being low, an analog connection (doesn't matter how many pixels the TV has if you're still using composite cables), or the TV just being kinda crap in general.

Damn, I see.

I never used any composite cables, i went from the white, yellow red ones from olde to HDMI on the PS3 and 360 generations, but I guess my TVs were crap indeed, hopefully the monitor I get does much better, will report back later tonight after a trip to walmart to check specs.
