I've never played the original and it looks gorgeous to me. There doesn't seem to be much replay value though and the gameplay looks average.

Looks super boring. You prepared to drive the speed limit long ass distances fir the first couple hours? I dunno what happens after that. I can't even be entertained long enough to watch. It's probably less repetitive than 3 tho.

I don't know how much has changed in this remake version but the original was definitely fun if you wanted to experience a well-crafted classic Mafia story. The writing is good and the story is definitely the focus.

It was **not** good for open world exploration - you could drive around but there were no real goals or things to achieve there.

edit: The "driving the speed limit" thing that Lost All Senses mentions is a little overstated imo. It is sort of like the original Driver game where the cops will start chasing you if you're going too fast, but IIRC the game marks the cops pretty clearly on the map and they're not *everywhere*. So yeah you're expected to drive a little more cautiously around the cops but otherwise can cruise however you want to.

Absofuckinglutely worth every penny, even if it were $60. I usually hype games up like crazy and get disappointed--this has not been the case. I played five hours straight last night and would have pulled an all nighter if it weren't for work. The graphics are amazing. The driving is amazing. The shooting combat is loads better than Mafia II/III, though I feel mixed on the hand-to-hand.

The music is great. The atmosphere is great. Everything about it is just great and I can't wait to play it some more tonight. I haven't felt that way since RDR2.

Oh, and definitely play with headphones and no lights. The driving parts go so well with the music and it's really a different experience.

Just get it. Don't fucking wait. Get. It. Especially if you played and loved the original.

I misspoke tho. I should have of just said "driving slow". I just meant compared to how fast you get around the map in other games. But like I said, I was only judging the first hour or 2.
