It's one of my favorites too. It was flawed with how blue coins were designed and a few of the required FLUDDless void levels were pure evil. However, it's still the most fun 3D Mario to just run around like a big playground. I loved Mario's movement so much. The soundtrack was amazing with Kondo's Delfino Plaza and remixes. Shinobu Tanaka's tracks have that chill quirky vibe. The levels were so detailed where everything was interactive. It was gorgeous and 3D All Stars version is absolutely beautiful. Hasn't aged except the low polygonal textures and a few minor visuals.

I will admit I haven't played 64 or Galaxy yet, but I really enjoyed Sunshine, and the remake pretty much keeps all the fun things about the game.

Maybe its bad in relation to the other games or something, but I've enjoyed Sunshine, it definitely falls into the "this was fun" rating.

Its a decent game.

+It looks great
+They do a solid job with varying the topical setting
+FLUDD is really fun when they arent having you be a janitor and you are just blasting shit and hovering and all that.
+Having lots of unique to the series enemies and other elements gives delphino its own indentity
+Soundtrack is pretty nice

-Too restrictive. Why on earth do you gotta do every shine in order and also have the optional shines be 100% meaningless to progression
-Blue coins are absolutely bullshit
-Having 2 red coin missions in most areas, and a shadow Mario chase in each(+4 in the plaza) AND several bosses having a rematch etc. on top of the blue coins makes the game feel super padded.
-Only 7 full levels is far less then its predecessor and successor.
-Lots of physics jank and other jank.
-Yoshi is some wierd abomination here.
-Final area is a big leg down. Generic final even with nothing interesting and a boring unexiciting final boss
-The voice acting is atrocious
-A lot of the Clean up all this goop missions are tedious
