Stuff like a secret cabal that Trump is fighting against, Angela Merkle secretly being Hitler's granddaughter, and the apparently imminent arrest of a number of journalists. Is there any real evidence to support this? Why is this gaining a substantial number of followers, if there IS no basis in fact?

Literally nothing. Basically it's just some guys saying shit is going to go down, and then it never does. So the guy just goes "uhhh, well, it didn't go down because it wasn't the right time" or some other B.S.

It's kinda like those Doomsday people that predict the end of the world on a certain day, and then when that day comes and nothing happens they have to conjure a bullshit reason why not and then pick a new day.

"Well the world was supposed to be engulfed in flames, fire, and brimstone, but it rained yesterday, so instead the world will really end in another 3 years"

And for some reason dumb suckers online eat it all up.

Well the "fact" is that child trafficking and sexual abuse of children is definitely a big deal. It's just that Qanon pushes almost a "mysterious van abducting children" type theory which largely is not how sexual abuse of children occurs.

Vast majority of child sexual abuse occurs within the home and is committed by a family member or trusted family friends. These children either stay in an abusive home or run away and be at high risk to be abducted by human traffickers.

So if you really care about children you should focus on reaching kids in their homes. Usually teachers and school counselors are the ones to notice this stuff.

Qanon is just boogeyman BS. People who believe in it will only go so far as sharing BS on social media. It helps no one and actively hurts sexual abuse victims by diverting attention to fiction.
