Now the only time I'm really struggling is with the early challenges, fighting three revenants and two of the hell knight with blades dudes is kicking my ass, but rest of the game feels relatively easy

Still don't like the platforming though

2nd level is the hardest imo. You dont have many weapons to choose from, then they throw all those aracnotrons and revenants at you like you're supposed to be able to handle multiple of those at once with like 4 low-tier weapons and almost no ammo.

You die faster...lol.

Took over a month for me to beat that and all but one Slayer gate though so it isn't impossible. Not even gonna try Nightmare

I've never played on a lower difficulty than UV, but what I can tell you about that difficulty is that you ALWAYS need to be thinking about using the flame belch, chainsaw, and glory kills, and be strategically thinking about which enemies you will need to be using them on while dodging bullets/attacks from those enemies. If you're not constantly spamming the dash, you're dead. Your favorite guns will run out of ammo fast, so have a back up ready ( and again dont neglect the chainsaw). Use ice bombs-- they're the only thing in your arsenal that will actually give you time to think.

How much harder is UV than HMP?
Finished HMP with over 30 lives so it wasn't bad at all, and I kinda feel like a second playthrough soon.

I rarely survive an enemy mob with an extra life on UV. Extra lives are almost useless, because you will die again before you figure out what you're doing wrong. At least that's how it is for me, and I don't think I'm bad at the game.

All this being said, I'm challenging myself in this 2nd play through by not using "cheap" runes like Saving Throw. I'm also only using the keyboard to switch weapons, so I don't get to pause and think while I scroll around the weapon wheel. I'm definitely better at the game now than I was the first time, but I'm finding it just as difficult because I'm putting these limits on myself.

I beat it on Nightmare, it is a lot harder than UV. Especially Arachnatrons, theyll shoot non-stop and never miss

had a lot of fun though, I love the challenge. Hardest part IMO was the first doomhunter battle

Oh boy. I'm generally not a fan of brutally difficult games, but HMP was too easy... hm.

For runes I reccomend the mobility one where you can move easily in the air, and the one that gives a speed boost after glory kill

the blood punch one is also good for extra health drops

And Saving Throw literally lets you cheat, which is why I'm avoiding it this go-around.

if I remember correctly damage stays the same across the board, but the margin of error gets smaller the higher you go up

It's not really brutally difficult. It's hard, and very easy to die, but it's also extremely fair(at least for now, we'll see how bullshit the Marauders are, lol).

Nightmare, however, I would say is brutally difficult. I cant even beat the first level of DOOM 2016 on Nightmare. I haven't even tried playing Eternal on that difficulty.

Beat the second slayer gate no problem. Couple fights give me trouble, but nothing unmanageable. Except when I got surrounded by Manacubus, p sure there's nothing I can do if I can't move >.>;

For me, it started off pretty tough but became pretty smooth the rest of the game. I still never carried more than 2 lives, and generally lost them pretty quickly. But I never felt overmatched. That was until I reached the second to last boss. It seems to be considered the easiest boss in the game, yet I had a difficult time. I then proceeded to struggle with the entirety of the last level, but especially at the final boss.

This reminds me I'm also not using sentinel armor for this playthrough. I think the only boss I beat without it on my 1st game was the Icon. That was after beating him once with the armor, though.
