im black.

one guy is a black man, but he voted to give the police department in my city a new station that would cost 40 million dollars. yeah fuck that. hes out.

another is a black woman, interesting... but then i realized shes a bible thumper, has god written all over her bio, and just looks looney. nope.

theres a white man who says hes a teacher/principal but then in his bio literally has a sentence that has like 14 independent clauses. if i were his teacher, id circle his bio and write "COMMA SPLICE. FIX". nope.

then lastly theres another black woman, but her experience is only that she knows filipino mexicans and black people. great.

then the whitest man on the planet is serving on the council already, voted to defund police, and looks like hes generally a progressive guy and the old mayor is endorsing him.

I mean, it definitely helps if you want say, minority focused issues to be faced by your local government, its better when they also fit the demographics of your area. otherwise you can get stuff like the white mayor not understanding that the police treat minorities differently.

That said, it isn't always the issue, and its important to acknowledge that this whitest dude ever is the only one that seems to be approaching the issues TC wants.
