Pls tell me all you know about Saboxone and Methadone.

I also had a very interesting conv with someone tonight about treatment. And human trafficking.

Methadone stuff i found

The woman who ran for mayor in the city two over from me talked about drug addiction. She's a super cool lady.

I would not recommend Methadone. It still gets you high, and it's expensive, and you have to go to a clinic every single day, and it's almost impossible to get off of.

Suboxone, on the other hands, does not get you high, is covered by most insurances, and you only have to see a doctor once a month. It is still extremely hard to get off of, but it satisfies the part of the brain that makes you crave heroin, and you still have the ability to work and function and not be high all the time. So if you can come to peace with perhaps having to take it forever, it's really the best case scenario.

Nothing else has a high success rate, though it is possible to just stop using heroin and never do it again. Most addicts fail that way though.

I currently work at a correctional facility and I work directly with clients in recovery.

From what I have seen from clients Suboxone seems to work well with curbing withdrawals from addiction. Although it does have other side effects. I have heard from people taking it that it makes it difficult to urinate.

I haven't seen it, I just know from experience going through this with somebody I love. The methadone was almost worse than actual heroin, tbh. Everything was the same, only she was way more high, way more consistently. When she got on Suboxone everything changed, she's like back to being herself again. Never high, never broke, wants to do stuff and talk to people and generally be a functioning member of society.

If you can look at it like a disease, and come to terms with taking a pill every day forever just like you would with high blood pressure or whatever, it's really great. Obviously she had a lot of work to do with the accompanying therapy or whatever her program is, but it really changed everything for her. Can't recommend it enough, if your friend is willing.

Man, idk why I get involved with this stuff...

My BEST advice is to -NOT- get involved. No matter how much it breaks your heart.

I allowed a couple to come into my home one night because they were homeless and having a hard time. This was back in 2010. Next morning they stole $40 from me and went to go get heroin.

That night, they came back to my house because they had no where else to go. I flipped the fuck out on them and told them they are going to give me my money back. They told me to follow them to a guy that they know so they could get my money. Suspicious but wanting to be over this shit, I went with them. What happened was as of the follows:

I go with them to a bar. They meet a guy and I wait at the bar for like an hour for them to finish talking. Then we walk to another bar down the street where they go into the SAME bathroom for like 10 or 15 minutes. Then finally, dude comes out and asks me to come help him. I go into the bathroom and I see his gf laying in a pool of her own white, foamish vomit. Her skin was ash grey and she was cold to the touch.

She OD'd from heroin and alcahol. She lived, but she HATED my guts after that. (I called 911 to report what happened, told the bar staff what was going on, then left. I was done with them after witnessing this)

I saw her from time to time after that, as she walked the streets. She always shot me an evil glance and never said a word to me after that.

Moral of the story: You can't help everyone and sometimes the nightmares you get from trying to help some people are NOT worth it.

She didn't but she hated me for forcing her to realize her life was fucked up by calling 911 and reporting the incident. I doubt she looks at me like I'm a savior for that lol
