In most recent memory, I played Wasteland 3, I just did random for appearance until something looked cool. I spent more time on skill stats and builds and whatnot. In a game like that zoomed out so far, the appearance doesn't matter as much though.

Depends on how strong the customization is, and how often I'll actually see my face. Took a good 30 minutes with Skyrim, to make my bosmer look like a god damn normal person.

depends if its stuff like attire then i'll play around with the options but i don't really mess with the face options that much. in souls games i'm in and out of character creations in a few minutes.

Mash 'confirm' until the game actually starts, and play with default guy for an hour or two.
Start over if I decide I give a damn, if re-editing isn't possible for some dumb idealistic reason.

Some times I just go for the most outrageous looking character possible though. That's as easy as easy as maxing or min...ning out features.

Back on one of the PS3 wrestling games I was obsessed with making characters and quite a few of them resembled who I was recreating.

Old wrestling games, I spend more time in character creation than actually playing through the game. And of course, once new moves were unlocked, there goes another hour or so changing up my moveset.

Dark souls games, I spent a lot of time on character appearance, trying to make them look kind of good for my 100% character. Later playthroughs, I still spend time, but now it is about moving sliders to the extreme and using "similar face" non-stop to see what kind of abominations I can come up with.

I mean, who didn't make the fattest character they could, but give them all the high flying rope moves. But you had to pair them up with the human twig that could powerbomb opponents all day.

Same. I had like 20 save cards filled with CAW's.

It's also pretty much all I did in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon and Soul Calibur III

I don't play a lot of games with character creation.

But I did spend a lot of time in the Saint's Row character creation and then even more time in the in-game shops. It was a huge fucking bummer that they killed the customization so badly after SR2.

Alternatively, spend an hour creating the character and then realize that they look like a melting wax figure under any lighting except the lighting in the character creation screen
