Not sure who the correct supervisor is for this, but just trying to follow the chain of command.

____ and I are looking to get a raise, to compensate for our hours getting cut at (job site). Although we only lost 5 hours of OT per week, that adds up to $400 per month, or almost $5000 per year. A raise in our hourly pay, to $16/hr, would compensate for the time lost.

There are unarmed sites in our area that are paying $13.50/hr. Meanwhile ______ only makes $14/hr armed, and $15/hr for me(having been with the company for 8 years)

Our hours werent cut due to an issue with attendance, performance, or any kind of complaints. Covid-19 is no fault of ours, and were just trying to make to what we were before the pandemic. Right now it just feels like our pay got cut.

Weve been loyal to (company name), and feel that we deserve this.

What should I add/remove?

Add a gun and remove the taking.

In all seriousness, that doesn't sound too bad, but if the company doesn't have the work for you to be getting overtime there is a significant chance they will see it as not having the money to increase your compensation.

March in to your boss' office and say: "It's time to talk, double my pay or I walk."

He'll be so impressed by your rhyming skills you'll get your raise on the spot.

I wouldnt make it about others as someone mentioned. I also would make it less about feeling like you got a pay cut and more about your own performance, tenure and average market rates and why you deserve the raise. You could add a line about this being a big help during these rough times and how you also need the extra support.

ok so pretty much everyone is saying just make it about me.

I understand where youre coming from, and Im not just trying to campaign for him.

Generally speaking, security companies pay based on your site location, and not individual pay rates.

so by asking for a raise for me, he would be getting one too, by default

That's fine, and if thats the case so be it. Something else I'll say is make sure you have an idea of how much exactly you're looking for. I had something else I was going to add to but can't remember at the moment.

Another thing is try asking for a little higher than you actually want. Theyre more likely to meet you in the middle and give you what youre aiming for. And you might luck out and they will meet the higher number. Its how I negotiated my current offer at my company and they ended up giving me my top number.

For example, if I go cover a different site, I get what that site rate is, not my normal pay.

like when I worked some OT this weekend, the site paid $12/hr. I didnt make $15/hr because of my normal site, I made $12.

im trying to increase the site pay, which just so happens to be a raise for both of us.

but I get what you guys are saying

Hell yeah. My fianc always aimed high during negations, and it paid off really well for her.

every time she gets a new job, she jumps at least $5/hr, its insane

I hate it when I ask for more money and they give it to me, just because you know there was probably more money on the table.

my company probably doesnt know this, but Im not really in a position to look elsewhere.

I have no degree, my commute is 4 minutes, Ill lose my vacation time.

Im pretty much maxed out in private security, besides a manger role.

if I switch fields, I cant expect to make more than $15 with no experience. And its a given that my commute will increase, and 0 PTO to start.

so I have to play my cards right

Im not opposed to a new job, it just needs to make sense for me. Opportunity for growth, higher base pay, something.

I have 3 weeks now, took 5 years to get there lol.

I wouldnt mind going down to 1 week, if it meant I was getting a nice raise.

But yeah I definitely dont want to throw that away to make the same amount, or less.

Ill check into similar companies though!

It's pretty hard for non exempt employees to get a raise, since they're the ones eligible for "overtime" and "time and a half" bonuses.

So if you WANT more money, ask for MORE hours op and you must be willing to work on the holidays (assuming your job operates during the holiday season). That's the only way you're gonna get a "raise"

2 other sites in our area just got a raise. Most armed sites in the area pay $16-$17 now.

mine only pays so low because weve had the contract for over 12 years. so its set at a lower rate

they typically renew the contract every May.

But weve gotten raises outside of that time month, its just been a hella long time.

supervisor,

As you already know our hours at ____ were cut due to Covid-19, resulting in the loss of our overtime and a significant decrease in pay. After calculating the difference, I realized Im making about $5000 less annually. I understand that coverage in the Cleveland area is already very light and I would like to stay with this contract, but I may have to start looking at other opportunities in order to supplement the loss. However, I was wondering if a site raise to $16/hr would be reasonable, it would make up for the difference in pay and would allow me to stay with the company.

In the _________ area, we have unarmed sites that pay $13.50, and most armed sites pay $16-$17.

tried changing a bit but this doesnt feel like it it flows well at all.

im not sure how to really bring performance into it. We use a phone check in system, so they can see how seldom were late or anything like that.

We can go literal months without seeing our bosses, as its a contracted position. So its not like theyre seeing us work on a daily basis.

weve had this contract for like 12 years, and thats why the rate is so low
