being a shade has no precedent in lore and was just made up ad hoc for that portion of the game. Not good, and a strong example of how the game is so hamfistedly trying to make you feel bad about what you did. I would compare unfavorably to Spec Ops: The Line in that regard.

Spec Ops the line was great and you brought the actions upon your self. it didn't just make stuff up.

The whole thing was a metaphor aimed at the player
