Skinwalker
Legends of the Navajo skinwalkers: terrifying mythical creatures from folklore (or "cryptids) that are human, but can take the form of hideous beasts. And this dates back to hundreds of years before Stephenie Meyer enthralled the world with what she got rich doing. The Native American shapeshifting skinwalkers were frightening beings of pure evil and, perhaps, served as a cautionary tale against dabbling in the spiritual unknown. Here are some of the facts about the Navajo skinwalkers, and some things you may not have, or just didn't, know. It's okay, that's why we're here.

So I went to Appalachian State University in the mountains so it snows a lot in the wintertime.

My then girlfriend and I were at a club event and it was one those that ran into the night. It had started snowing in the daytime and we were at risk of being shut down. So by the time we got out it was still snowing pretty bad. I lived on campus and my gf was off-campus. I agreed to ride with her to her place and spend thd night there to make sure she got home safe.

So while we were driving it was pretty dark despite the snow. The streetlights on the road going towards her apartment weren't great. There were 3-4' snow banks. We were coming up to a stretch of the road where there was a shoulder that had a steep hill on the left that led into some apartments.

We saw this hulking black mass on the side of the road. In an instant when we got closer, it scrambled down the hill out of sight. It was too small to be a bear and we don't get bears here. It was too big to be a dog and its back legs were definitley dog shaped as it kicked up. I shit you not if I were crazy I'd say it was a werewolf.

At least we joked about it being a werewolf for thr longest time. It was too dark to get a good look and it was gone too fast to process it but I'll never forget it. No one at that school to my knowledge has ever mentioned seeing something like that so maybe we'll never know for sure what it was.

Sorry for any typos I'm on a phone.

I think i've watched every documentary that exists about Skinwalker Ranch, and I even watched the bad movie. It's a very fascinating, and mysterious situation all around, and the only thing that has intrigued me more is the Phoenix lights incident in 1997.

Slide-Rock Bolter (Macrostoma saxiperrumptus) is a bizarre creature recounted by the lumberjacks of North America during the 19th and early 20th centuries. It is believed to live in the mountains of Colorado, but this beast only lived in the mountains where the slope was more than a 45-degree angle. It has an immense head, with small eyes, and largemouth. It has a fluked tail like a dolphin, with enormous grab-hooks.
All day long this creature will just wait for a tourist or helpless creature below it. At the right moment, it will lift its tail, thus loosening its hold on the mountain, and descend rapidly down the slope. With the beasts mouth wide open it would swallow all that got in its way. Whole parties of tourists are reported to have been gulped up in one scoop by taking parties far back into the hills. Its body is also so large and strong that trees in its path are broken and destroyed. Its own impetus carries it up the next slope, where it again slaps its tail over the ridge and waits.

PUKWUDGIES
Pukwudgies are a magical, humanoid race of people that feature prominently in Algonquian folklore. To different tribes, the Pukwudgie acts and looks differently. For example, in the Ojibwe tribes they are described as a mischievous but mostly good-natured being that may trick people but rarely has malicious intent. The Wampanoag and many other tribes of New England know the Pukwudgie to be both a trickster but also dangerous. They are known to play tricks but, in some cases, help out a human who has encountered them. If you wrong them or somehow offend them they are known to steal children, commit acts of terror, and can even be deadly.

supposedly some monsters used to be humans in final fantasy lore and even in laughable sources like the bible and the quran. if they were to exist in any plane of existence and some dimensions overlap, it's possible for some creatures or even spiritual beings to exist in our own world if not for only limited periods of time. it's no more preposterous than believing in angels, or djinn, or vampires, or aliens for that matter.

Wendigo: It was a large creature, as tall as a tree, with a lipless mouth and jagged teeth. Its breath was a strange hiss, its footprints full of blood, and it ate any man, woman or child who ventured into its territory. And those were the lucky ones. Sometimes, the Wendigo chose to possess a person instead, and then the luckless individual became a Wendigo himself, hunting down those he had once loved and feasting upon their flesh.

THUNDERBIRD The northwestern Indians said that the Thunderbird accompanied thunderstorms and that lightning flashed from its eyes. It was said to feed on killer whales. The Miami Indians called it Piasa, or 'devourer of man' and believed the bird required sacrifices or it would attack a whole community.
In October of 2002 in the Alaskan villages of Togiak and Manokotak, came reports of a bird with a wing-span of '14 feet'. Though the actual size would be hard to make out from the ground, the witnesses were shaken. A pilot saw it too from a distance of just 1,000 feet while flying his plane. "The people in the plane saw him," said the pilot John Bouker. "He's huge, he's huge, he's really, really big. You wouldn't want to have your children out."

nor would i. very few would stand a chance against either. though i have always been fascinated by stories of transformation and transmogrification, particularly in shamanic practices.

The Jersey Devil has a strange general description, having the combination of body parts and looks of a variety of currently known animals. The creature is often described as a flying bipedal cryptid with hooves, but there are many contrary opinions as to what it actually looked like. The common description from eyewitnesses is that it kind of looks like a kangaroo-like creature, but with the head of a horse, leathery bat-like wings, and long bird-like legs, claws, hooves, a hideous face, and a forked tail. Several people have even said its body looks like an alligator. It allegedly inhabited the Pine Barrens of Southern New Jersey and was named the official state demon in 1939 in New Jersey.
