Megami Tensei 2's ost literally sounds like it's from a SNES. This must've blown some japanese kid's mind when he popped this in his famicom in 1990 >_>

Famicom. I think the cartridge had a custom sound chip that augmented itself to the famicom when the cartridge was attached.

I prefer composers that can maximize the original NES chip like SunSoft games and Tim Follin over customized chips. I'm prob also a minority when I prefer the normal CV3 OST over the custom soundchip.

I've researched into how he accomplished everything and I understand most of it but I'm still convinced that Tim Follin is a fucking wizard.

And SunSoft. Well they made this damn masterpiece https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aU0GEcU63qw not just the soundtrack but the game itself has an incredible amount of care and love put into it including an astounding attention to detail. One of the best platformers I've ever played.
