Welcome to Mountain Time

The game is simple. The two* listed characters are placed in an (imaginary) location with a variety of (imaginary) environments, kind of like a picture in a child's schoolbook that describes different types of geological features. Within a ten mile radius, there is an (imaginary) urban downtown, exurbs, plains, snow-clad mountains at the edge, dry plains, etc. Fighters start wherever is most appropriate for them, but feel increasingly compelled to seek out their opponent and fight. Strong-willed fighters can try to hold out in their chosen environment for longer... eventually, all will succumb and actively search for the other to battle.

To participate, just vote in bold for whichever character you believe will win. Giving reasoning is optional, but please be polite and read what others have said and carefully make your decision. I'll ping the nominators (they can opt out) to give arguments if they wish.

Not sure what Bane might be able to do with the Force here, but if it comes to a straight fight I'd have to imagine he's pretty screwed

could a lightsaber cut through the power sword?

I mean, the Power Sword deflects lasers so... prrrrrobably not on cutting through the sword?

Really just curious to see what Bane opens with and if he's a "big torture time, indulge in suffering" Sith or a very practical one. Because I feel he doesn't really survive any counter-strike that He-Man could offer (the man punches fire and reverses tornadoes, force storms and lightning are probably decently counterable), but He-Man is also very, very good at getting hit a few times before he actually manages to fight back.

lasers and light sabers are entirely different. a good mirror would be unaffected by plenty of types of lasers but that's probably not gonna help you against the big Darth V.

He was the one who created the Rule of Two, supplanting the more chaotic Sith infighting, so as far as I can tell his main personality trait beyond "Sith lord" is "practical".

Bane strikes me as the type to not fool around. From Wookieepedia:

After Bane acquired his lightsaber-impervious orbalisk armor, he favored a furious, all-offensive style of Djem So, and capitalized on his tremendous physical strength to overwhelm opponents. His battle prowess was realized when he held his own against three battle meditation-invigorated Jedi in combat on Tython; a group which included Raskta Lsu, who was considered to be the greatest contemporary duelist in the Order. It should be noted, however, that the Jedi Weapon Master managed to score numerous would-be lethal hits on Bane during this duel, and as such his impenetrable armor was of paramount importance to his victory. Additionally, his victory came only after the Jedi's battle meditation ceased, and Raskta Lsu was killed by a sneak attack from Zannah. During this duel, Zannah noted that Bane's lightsaber technique was somewhat unrefined. However, this lack of refinement was intentional, as Bane believed that eschewing technical sophistication for fury-driven, strength-oriented swordplay increased his effectiveness as a duelist. During combat, Darth Bane was likened by his enemies to a force of nature.[5]

He favors an all-offense approach, which indicates to me that he's not going to be messing around with mind games.

Of note: there's a Darth Bane in EU/Legends (which is where that paragraph comes from), and one in current canon. I don't think there are any major contradictions between them though - the Legends bio just goes into more detail.

I don't think that's going to work out too well for him here. Even if he can break the power sword that's just going to lead to a broken spine.

Or does He-Man need the sword to stay transformed? I couldn't find out how that works.

Oh. I'm pretty sure mind games would've worked better than all-offense.

He-Man

If your ability is "hit them really hard and also from the other side"... you're not gonna beat He-Man. Sith are uncomfortably close to Hordak and the horde's technology in general, imagining He-Man slashing through magic, space magic, or technology magic is totally doable.

Insofar as transformation goes and maintaining it via the sword... that's inconsistent, as you'd probably imagine. He-Man's been disarmed before and been able to maintain his form. I think you could better consider it a conduit by which the power of Castle Greyskull flows through him. Not to mention that the sword has been split before (such as its original incarnation, where Skeletor had half of the sword sometimes? ) and He-Man can still He-Man.
