I'm actually very okay with this if they can redeem or retcon or whatever the hell writing device to make S8 not the finale. 24: Live Another Day did it and while it wasn't a god-tier finale, it was an acceptable wrapup from the original series.

Also Michael C Hall said a hundred times he wouldn't do this if the premise or plot was garbage, so I'm being optimistic of his word.
