Tried the demo, seemed like a decent time. It seems they made it a lot easier than the original version though, which I'm okay with tbh <_<

Trying to decide if I want HW:AoC as well, but I'd like to know about their DLC structure before I buy in.

No, I own it on Wii U and the additions seem useless to double dip so I'll just stick with that (which also has the superior control option of Gamepad + Wiimote).

This will be my first Pikmin game, so it won't be a double dip for me. But it turns out that Hard mode is actually an easier version of the default difficulty of the original Pikmin 3. I think they're really trying to make this one easy to pick up for new players to the series.

Oh yeah, I'm not discounting if someone hasn't played Pikmin 3. I've played 1 - 3 and 3 is a nice combo of 1 and 2. If you are new to the series, it's definitely worth it. I'm just saying in terms of this topic, I'm not going to get it because it just includes all the DLC from the Wii U version, some extra small challenge maps, and local coop (which I dunno how it would even work). Plus, the gamepad + Wiimote combo was very intuitive, as the gamepad was an overhead map that you could pause time to move around and give specific orders to all your leaders so you could multi task super well. And the Wiimote was just great to point and throw Pikmin at something pretty accurately.

Point is: if you have a Wii U, you probably shouldn't pick it up again (which most people don't have a Wii U). If you don't, then it's a great game to play.

Part of me wonders if the difference in control is why they made the game easier. Like I'm pretty sure they extended the day length, plus they added that "call all Pikmin back to the ship" feature. Non flower Pikmin follow you more consistently, along with a host of other QoL changes.

Amusingly enough, I was considering buying a download code for Pikmin 3 on Amazon not long before Nintendo announced the Deluxe edition.

So yeah I think I'll just wait.

Probably not. I've never been big on Pikmin.
