When contrasting male/female it's very common to color-code male as blue and female as pink. I definitely think "feminine" when I see pink but I don't really think "masculine" when I see blue. I think of it as completely neutral.

It is stigmatizing for males to be drawn to feminine things, but not for females to be drawn to masculine things.

So men will generally stay away from having too much pink in their lives, but women don't really avoid blue. That is why it is the way you described, TC.

Apparently up until the late fifties, it was actually the other way around, since pink is a shade of red, which is considered a masculine colour.
