Freshman year of college many years ago I had a political science class with a seminar and I talked a LOT.

Like, 75% of the class really liked me and thought I was really interesting, but another 25% of the class hated me for talking so much for whatever reason.

I don't get why contributing to the discussion regularly makes people so angry, like why is school so toxic? I have a Masters in Political Science now and those kids are probably living with their parents and working at Starbucks.

Haha, no. I was voted quietest in class. In fact, my one high school teacher kicked me out of class once because he didn't recognize me. I'd been in that class for like a week, and it only had like 15 people in it. Once the class was laughing so hard he checked his role sheet and let me back in.

I was entirely overlooked for an entire week, then once he realized I was there thought it was a mistake. D:

I only talked in classes if it was required. Didn't mind other students talking a lot unless it dragged down the pace of the class.

I got so much shit for being a know-it-all. I learned real fast to keep my mouth shut and ask my curious questions after class.

I remember being in intro to American politics and being the only person who could answer any of the damn questions and one day the professor asked if anyone in the 80 person class was planning on being a poli sci major and I was the only person to raise their hand.

It made the professor laugh and I sank down in my seat.
