Do you think your family could come up with the money if you died today for a funeral?

you know what they say. funerals are MORE expensive than weddings and more people die everyday now than people getting married..

you might think weddings are cheaper cause all you need to pay for a funeral are the limos, the casket, the service, the reception and the burial..compared to a wedding where people pay for the service, the reception and other stuff like djs and banquet hall for a reception etc..

but all of the funeral costs in general are more expensive than the average wedding even when you go all cheap. a cremation is the cheapest option but still costs arm and a leg. but for a cheap wedding and getting married by a justice only costs a finger nail in comparison.

That's why you always see families starting gofundme's whenever a loved one has died....so do you think your family could afford one if you died today?

Many of them could, but funerals and all that are overrated. When I'm dead, I just want to be buried in the woods or tossed to the bottom of a lake or something.

I'm pretty sure they could afford my funeral but I'd much rather get cremated instead.

Seems much less like a hassle and I don't want to be a hassle for them just because I happened to die.

Real estate for a corpse is actually more wasteful than a golf course IMO.

I couldn't care less what you do with my corpse once I'm no longer occupying it. donate it to science, feed it to pigs, pump it full of twinkies, tequila, and spam and leave me standing in the corner in an intimidating pose, throw me to a necrophiliac convention, i really don't care.

but for the love of Eris, don't put me in a suit i never would have worn in life, put me in the dirt with a headstone, and put lights on the damned thing, I'm trying to sleep until the end of days or ragnarok. if you insist on burying me whole, at least put me in plain clothes and bury me with a sword.

why bury a person in the first place? we load corpses up with preservatives and seal them in an airtight box so as to prevent rot...for what reason? what possible purpose does "traditional" burial serve except to waste land. your body isn't even rotting to feed the grass. we actively do everything possible to prevent decomposition ffs.

"Yes..but only if it's cheap like a cremation"

That seems insensitive and cremations can be expensive too. Still in answer to the question yeah. I'd want them to spend as little as possible as I'll be dead so won't know any different.

We wouldn't have a funeral if I died. Waste of money. I've made that very clear. Donate my tissues, cremate what's left, if anything, and put it in a plastic bag until it can be scattered somewhere.

Funny question, considering my health plan is remembering that cremation is less than $2k, which is less than many medical related semi emergencies/full emergencies.

Hell, it's going to take about that much just to get our gd porch fixed.

Considering all the crazy stuff I keep seeing people have done with their ashes, I just want mine buried with my old cat Bob. Otherwise the cats will end up eventually knocking them over and probably going to the bathroom in them. I find that thought kinda funny ngl, but pretty sure no one else in my house does and they'd be the living so kinda matters more if they'd find it funny or not.

Funeral though? Nah waste of money and time. For the living obviously.

I would hope most people have invested in life insurance because of all insurance, life insurance is the most important one in my opinion. I have had fam members in the past who died without insurance and all that does is add extra burden to the family.

Donate my body to science = free cremation. I don't want people to waste money on anything fancy just for my death. Any expenses for a funeral would easily be covered by my estate.
