Liam Neeson is, like, fine too but it seems like a misuse of his talent. I mean, lots of bad choices too. Taylor Kitsch is not Tom Cruise and he's not going to carry such a bland writing for a main character through his acting. Rihanna as a Lieutenant? Close Encounters of the Third Kind but for a more mature audience) during a tense stand-off is a great concept. The idea of watching some low-tech naval vessels defeat an intersolar species because "Humans are the best" is bound to be shit and untenable on any level other than an excuse to have beer and popcorn. --- 'Cause you know that I have no fear, ain't gonna walk into the river and disappear.
