I will give credit to Blizzard that Diablo 3 did eventually end up as a decent game, at least in comparison to what it was at launch.

My reaction to the first reveal was "that looks cool but it's modern Bioware so I know it will be trash."

By the time of Anthem people were starting to wish for Bioware's failure. It's sad how far they fell.

Skyrim. The quests were so lackluster compared to Oblivion. It also didn't help it came out in the graphical era of gritty browns and greys so it's can be really dull colour-wise. It's still fun to mod though.

I think people forget all the enhancements made to Diablo 2 when saying it is so much better then launch 3. Like 2 was almost a completely different game when it launched, and I doubt all the people who like it now would like it back then. Same with 3, it is just a more recent example.

Anyways, mine was Deadly Premonition 2. I completed the original just before playing it and honestly loved it (even with the game crashing all the time). Then I played 2 and couldn't even modivate myself to get past the first chapter. All it did was make me want to play the original again.

Myst 5 and Diablo 3 are the only ones coming to mind. It's like both of them were developed by people who had no clue what made the previous games great.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution back in the PS3 gen' since it was not fleshed out in stealth, weird combat namely bosses, and wasn't fun to replay. I spend most of the time waiting for the battery gauge to refill to conduct KO's trying not to be tempted to shoot enemies, which yields less EXP I found. But other than that, loved the story and the theme when counting out the disappointment.

Mass Effect: Andromeda.

I won't go as far as saying it's terrible and doesn't have any redeeming qualities, but it really didn't hold a candle compared to the trilogy for me and I put it down ten hours in. That said, I might give it another shot at some point, just going to be going in with far lower expectations.
