You mean like Demon Days or Plastic Beach?

I have the regular cd coming with the Almanac, and the deluxe vinyl edition as well. I really enjoy the releases so far, stoked to hear the actual album finally.

It's fucking fire, even if they had already released most of the songs. Gorillaz returning to form is at least one great thing from 2020. The deluxe edition tracks are every bit as good as the main album ones too.

Best: Aries, Dsol, The Lost Chord, Pac-Man, Momentary Bliss, Opium

Worst: Chalk Tablet Towers, Friday 13th, With Love to an Ex

Damn, St. Vincent is on this! Gonna listen for sure.

The Now Now was a big step up from Humanz and I'm hoping this keeps the rebound up.

It's pretty hit or miss, I think the last 4 have gone in good-meh-bad-good order, with the last good being this new album. I also didn't even know the 2nd to last album existed, so I haven't listened to it

The follow up to Demon Days, Plastic Beach, is easily their best album imo

The only one I would consider weak is Humanz, but they all have good shit.

The current album is really, really good. I have criticisms of certain choices for tracks, but none of the tracks are bad. Momentary Bliss is right up there with Feel Good Inc. for me.

The only Song Machine song I haven't actively liked is Strange Timez. Literally the only song on this project that hasn't vibed extremely well for me.

Friday the 13th is a Gorillaz-lite song, but I recommend giving it time to grow on you. It went from one of my least favorite Song Machine releases to one of my favorites. It sounds good, it has a great vibe and the guy in the feature is honestly pretty good. I really didn't like Humanz, and Humility was the only single from The Now Now I really liked - Friday the 13th is an oddball on this collection, but it's a legitimately good piece of vibe music and I encourage you to give it some time to grow on you.

Otherwise - every feature I've heard on this album has been incredible. I'm surprised JPEGMAFIA made it on here, I only heard his song playing quietly in a loud room but it sounds pretty tight. 6lack's feature took a hot second for me to get used to, because I was there for that dramatic Elton John flair, but even that really sunk in and became a cornerstone for my enjoyment of the song. It's also pretty cool, because with Damon, Elton and 6lack, you're listening to three distinct generations of musicians on the same song.

Song Machine is the best Gorillaz album since Plastic Beach imo. The collection of songs on this thing is eclectic, wild and extremely fun. I love Gorillaz, and their 2010's output really disappointed me - but Song Machine has proven to be a return to form in every sense of the word imo.

One of my favorites on Demon Days tbh

I never hear anyone talk about Broken. Being right after On Melancholy Hill on Plastic Beach makes it easy to miss.
