Not really "traumatized" but that toxic waste scene at the end of robocop always stuck with me.

Heeeeeellllllpppp meeeeeeeeee!!!

On topic, when the xenomorph burst through John Hurts chest. Only he knew and Scott knew what was going to happen in that scene. I saw that movie when I was nine.

The "I SAID GOOD DAY!" scene in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory scared the shit out of me. Everything else didn't bother me - even the boat ride - but I had never seen such raw, explosive anger in anything before that.

The chameleon ep of are you afraid of the dark. The idea that the real girl was still a lizard at the end really freaked me out and made me very sad for some reason.

I saw the original child's play in a drive-in theatre as a kid (I wasn't supposed to be watching it, but with the nature of drive-in theatres you could simply turn around and watch something you probably shouldn't, lol).

That movie had me messed up for a good year.

The two that really stand out for me was my parents leaving the tv on and watching the opening to Saw 2

When the guy gets shot in the face trying to use the key on the door

The other one was me and my sister tried to be brave and watch The Grudge. We made it through the movie but were scared of the dark for a few months. The weird breathing noise she makes still fucks me up pretty bad.

I was paranoid for about a week after watching House on Haunted Hill (remake) in high school.

Yep I posted the scene that screwed me up. It was the way that doctor moved and walked that haunted me for so long. I finally watched it again when I was out of high school, but that was one of the few movies I had to turn off as a kid

I'd have to say that the singular image that really got to me as a kid was Max Shreck's charred bug-eyed corpse in Batman Returns.

The ending of Raiders of the Lost Ark left a similar but noticeably more positive impression; I was definitely freaked out, but I actually loved it and couldn't wait to watch it again. Maybe it was that said imagery in Batman Returns was much more abrupt and shocking, and that the ending in general was just plain grim and depressing; whereas the Raiders ending was not only more obviously building up to the horrific imagery to come, but also carried a tone of righteous comeuppance for the villains.

Creepshow 2, the second story with the teens and that oil thing in the lake. Totally gross.

Also just the opening to Tales from the Darkside was eerie as hell.
The Raft is one of Stephen King's more memorable short stories.

Anyways, think it was the ending of one of the Trolls movies for me. Where they're eating the parents at the end.

Got me thinking about the eventual deaths of my loved ones in general, which I so did not need mid-elementary school.

It's fucked up even watching for the first time as an adult.

IIRC, they still don't play that one in syndication, and is still the only MA-rated episode.

Yea I read this before after watching it again. I guess they made it ambiguous as to what were the real Candyman killings and which were just killings from randoms building the myth

I think it was explicit that the real Candyman didn't manifest until Helen ruined his legend. No one believed in him anymore because everyone had chalked it up to the drug dealer she testified against, so he manifested to kill her and make people believe again.

Even Ruthie Jean, the woman Kimbos_Egg mentioned as being killed, probably wasn't killed by him. Helen discovers that her medicine cabinet adjoins into another apartment and the killer probably came through there. Candyman doesn't have to do shit like that.

When I was a lot younger, the face-peeling scene from Poltergeist freaked the crap outta me. To this day, I still refuse to watch Poltergeist.

I admit Large Marge made me jump, but then again...I wasn't expecting that.

gosh I remember the poltergeist scene. My parents were watching it while I was in the room lol.

actually, same deal, T1000 impaling that guys face traumatized me too. And that was also a scene where the parents were just watching this shit with toddler Alis in the room.

and then my grandma picked up a letter opener and offered to show me how they do it in the movies when I asked if the movie was real

gosh why does every thread about trauma make me remember some fucked up way my family treated me as a child >_>

The Amityville Horror. 2 scenes because I tried being a brave little fuck

1. The mom and dad start having sex. Then dad looks at the foot of the bed and there's a fucking dead child/ghost there

2. The kid wakes up in the middle of the night to use the restroom. When he goes to use the sink, he looks into the mirror and there's a scary ass monster thing in the reflection.

I wish I could remember it. Pretty sure it was from a horror tv show or anthology?

Basically these criminals need something valuable off a body thats in a coffin. But the body gets dragged away into a network of underground tunnels by rats who chew holes in the cemeterys coffins. They army crawl through the tunnels and retrieve what they need but during a frantic escape get turned around and end up in a buried coffin instead of the one they dug up.
