UnfairRepresent 10/25/20 10:51:23 AM #1:	A gay man says he lost 90% of his LGBT friends when he expressed his support for Donald Trump. LGBT for Trump campaigner, Chris Mulvihill, 45, argues the President has done nothing to harm the rights of LGBTQ Americans but says most of his gay friends nonetheless find his views unforgivable as he prepares to vote Trump again at the November 3 presidential election. Chris, from Chicago, Illinois, voted in a presidential election for the first time in 2016 and voted for Donald Trump, citing the Presidents love for America. He says Trumps focus on American values and the US economy are his main reasons for becoming a devoted Republican a conservative, Christianity-focused party not always known for its LGBT-friendliness. Chris said: They saw a lot of propaganda about Trump being anti-gay but I can see that Trump is not against gay people. People are very unfair with their views and I was made to feel like I should vote a certain way because I am gay. After I voted for Trump in 2016 and came out as one of his supporters I lost 90% of my friends, they found it unforgivable. My support for Trump eroded friendships, a lot of people have an unhinged hatred for him and they cant accept my views. I dont even feel like a part of the gay community anymore. I dont want to be seen as a gay person, I want to be judged as just a person. He added that he avoided voting until the age of 41, in 2016, because he was disengaged with politics and didnt care. Four years later and in the run-up to this years hugely anticipated election, Chris proudly parades the streets wearing a LGBT for Trump T-shirt on the campaign trail, urging more gay Americans to feel to stop seeing President Trump as evil. Chris, who works as an IT consultant, said: I voted in an election for the first time in my life in 2016, and I voted for Trump. My friends saw him as evil and thought I shouldnt support him as a gay man I dont like that people use the fact that I am gay to judge me or my views. Chris, who is engaged to 27-year-old Jack Hartman, also a Trump supporter, argues that President Trump has been used as an anti-gay scapegoat by the media and Democrat Party supporters in a bid to cover up the reality of the Presidents successes. Whilst he confesses he cant recall what Donald Trump has done to benefit the gay community, Chris said he believes the 74-year-old has not nothing to harm the rights of gay Americans either. His comments come four months after the Supreme Court ruled on a decision to provide workplace protections for gay and transgender people. But it came under the leadership of a president who has overseen the Justice Departments move to end protections for transgender people in federal prisons and a ban on transgender servicemen and women in the military. Meanwhile, last month the Department of Housing and Urban Development proposed allowing homeless shelters the option to deny transgender people access to single-sex shelters. And this month, the Education Departments office of civil rights publicly moved to block transgender girls from joining female track squads in Connecticut high schools. But Mr Trump has been hailed as the most pro-gay president in American history by top White House aide Richard Grenell. Earlier this month Grenell became the first openly gay person to serve at a Cabinet-level in the US when he was nominated as acting Director of National Intelligence by the President. Trump said he didnt support gay marriage while campaigning to become president, but then said he had no problem with same-sex unions after being elected. He has twice tweeted in support of LGBT pride month, and wrote a glowing blog supporting Sir Elton Johns civil partnership to David Furnish when the couple wed in 2005. He did however became the first republican presidential nominee to ever mention supporting LGBT rights at a 2016 campaign event, claiming hed offer gay Americans better protection from violence than his Democrat rival, Hillary Clinton. Chris is open about his support for the president and enjoys attending Republican Party rallies in Illinois, he said. I agree they're not the same thing. But I wasn't saying they were, I was saying they were absurd things to hate someone over. Hating someone for having black hair and hating someone for wearing a black shirt is absurd too. That's also choice vs nature.
