I didn't mean it that way, I thought you were trying to lose weight? The easiest thing you can do is not even buy bad food

Happy bday! I also love cheetos and sour patch

Isn't periworkout nutrition kind of BS? At least with regards to direct impact on body composition. It might make you lift harder which might ultimately have that impact

In regards to direct body composition, peri workout pretty much stops net catabolism of the muscle. You still get break down, but no muscle loss

Also carbs around the workout will be stored ad glycogen and not fat

Idk if that's actually true, when I worked out a lot a decade ago it seemed to be the common opinion online but it doesn't seem to be any more

I'm not a nutritionist though

I do personally follow the advice but it's sort of like habit rather than anything else for me at least

I've always had skinny noodle arms so I added more arm focus to my routine the past 2 months. A coworker that I hardly see because we're sectioned off for covid reasons made a comment about them today. Im hyped. I cant really tell because I see them everyday.

I need to measure them once in awhile. I can barely, maybe notice differences in progress pictures but I need to be better about consistent angles. Either way, it's nice to get compliments on my problem areas.

That's awesome!

I struggle with body image and I've taken progress photos and been super down on myself looking at them... Until years later I look back at them and think "holy shit I looked great"

Congrats man. If im remembering right, werent you already really lean? I thought it was you that posted pictures in one of the old topics where you had some impressive chest striations going on.

@Dathrowed1 Out of curiousity, what amount of packs do you max out at with your abs at your absolute leanest? Yours start super high up which is why I'm asking.

ran a half marathon this morning after being injured for months trying to figure out my running form

I petted(?) a huge huge horse and fed a goat an apple, and had a staredown with a mule deer buck with really big antlers. What a fun day to be back at it

That made me realize that I've never even seen a horse up close, let alone pet one. Your runs are much more exciting than mine. Also dramatically longer. The concept of running over 10 miles at a time is so completely foreign to me.

It was to me before last year, if you're already running 10 miles/week you can get to a slow half marathon in like two months.

It also gets a LOT more fun the better you get

Alright, in-laws have finally left. I can finally focus on myself with my time. Started today with legs.

Currently weighing low 180s. Goal to get to 170 by new years which is 6 weeks. Its about 10 lbs in 6 weeks, goal is 2 pounds per week +/- some fractions. At that point I'm basically gonna reassess my goals. Goal is to be in the best shape by end of April

It's good you keep trying. I'd try very simple things -- just try harder than you usually would (higher intensity), eat more, do an extra set of everything etc

prob not thinking of me, i'm pretty much just running at the moment so i don't think anyone in a mainly lifting thread is going to be particularly impressed by my body

anyway this is me at 5'8" 144 today - like i talk about in this topic, i'm literally just running 30-35 miles a week and doing some some bodyweight exercises
https://i.imgur.com/lX3N4vk.png

when i was lifting and not running, i had a vastly different body type at the same exact weight. here's 7 years ago or something:
https://i.imgur.com/fwpsk36.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/eZodCKh.jpg

my longterm fitness goal is probably to be as jacked as i can while maintaining the ability to run 4:5x mile / 17:xx 5k with like a week notice. but right now i figure no sense in trying to put on upper body weight when gyms are iffy and i'm not even in running shape to do this at 144lbs yet.

Well, now it's gonna bother me who the hell i confused you with. Still youre definitely pretty lean. Runners are like a whole different breed to me. I simply can't compete in any respectable level with you guys.

Anyway, my workout today went very poorly. I straight up ran out of steam at one point. I feel it's better to push off the last few exercises until tomorrow or skip them entirely and get some proper rest. Lack of proper diet and sleep caught up to me here. On the upside, I like that im so entrenched in my lifting routine that this makes me uneasy. It's not like I'll just quit altogether. Im just run ragged atm

You might be thinking of me I guess, on my NotYou account before I closed it. I talked with BreezyExcursion some about running before I messed up my foot and lost all my progress. Though idk about chest striations. Trying to get back to where I was atm, which is depressing when I wasn't even happy with 'where I was' when I was there.

Haven't before, but might run one casually at some point. I do know you do get to see a lot of beautiful scenery on some of those trail ultras, so I'd take it as a see the sights kinda thing. 5k is probably where I'm topping out in regards to targeted training.

Most likely because my natural middle-distance talent helps a lot less the longer the race goes :)

damn grip strength comes fast

I've done seven workouts with my heavy duty grippers and have gone from six hard closes to fifteen easy closes. Almost time to move up to the not-baby level! Six years ago I was way into rock climbing and could hold my entire bodyweight from a single hand pinch grip, maybe this is muscle memory gains?

I'm thinking of running it like P-P-L-Rest-P-P-L-Rest, 8 day cycle. The extra day of rest kinda evens out the volume for a beginner, I feel like. A ton of people have used it with success.
