But have you even considered whether those truths want one holding onto them or not?

How self-evident can one be when he's holding onto a truth he didn't even take the time to consider wanted to be held?

Well, in my opinion, it's the truth that is self evident. And when one is using it in such a manner inconsistent with self, by all means - it's obviously the - the other

that

you know

the thing.

Thank you for your time

This is a good question. I had to ponder on it quite a bit before responding.

...and I didn't reach a satisfying conclusion.

If a truth is self-evident, there really isn't any value in identifying it as such. Its self-evidence will, itself, be self-evident.

Slavery already exists and has for many civilizations around the world.
Treating all men equal is a new concept to write into law.

A) If it is self evident it took people a really long time to notice. Maybe it's not as obvious as they make it sound.
B) Claiming it's self evident means I don't have to explain the reasoning behind it.
C) We're saying that all men are born equal, not that all men stay equal throughout their life.
D) This new patch breaks a core feature. It will take a few hundred years in beta testing to sort out. By then a new team of developers can deal with it.

Or the line "as you already know" in movies.

Maybe they used a different definition for "men"?

It wasn't meant to be a defense of the slave trade. The slave trade already was. It's the quality one which needs defending.

If I had to think about it on a deeper level, as in like maybe there was some kind of previous soul-conflict thing that it was rooted in, or that history has always shown this "world conquest at the expense of others" type trend, slavery or racism would make more sense to me as to why it may have happened, but how it would be/was seen as excusable morally, that's kind of an explanation I'm not here to be able to explain but certainly something that defies the logic that all men are created equally.

I mean, I've already "gone off the deep end" (some could say, I just have lots of time to consider the wide realm of possibilities that are, to today's current educations, alternate storylines) with how far I consider things could actually be to what we may be taught in education

(and full disclosure that probably isn't surprising anyway, I didn't really either grasp or receive the complete indoctrination into most common educations that surround things such as history or politics, so it's not that I'm ignorant on how things were or are, except for when I am - and have no problem admitting any of my lack of knowledges towards a subject - I just don't get why things have or had to suck, currently, or throughout the ages, besides the simple explanation that people have made things suck.)

so if you have 45 minutes to ride what is somewhat of a derailing of my own topic, that didn't actually have an intended rail to begin with, let's go

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jH44AfehEdY

um... I had a point, but building these tracks with my brain takes quite a toll to finally get to the intended destination whilst riding it at the same time.

Thanks voice in my head! Wars. (I literally drew my blank. That was all I had, until "Wars.")

You wouldn't believe what they come up with, which is something for another topic, but yeah. Wars. That saved my ass.

The point was wars

And I guess that the winners of these wars also get to dictate history as they say, but either way, the point is that the perceived differences (or on a character level, tangibly engrained by one's actions or expressed philosophies) between people ah fuck it.

It was quiet enough for me to think when I started this ramble, which affects the quality of my ability to efficiently express the point I am trying to make, quality and comfort wise - with respect to the scope of detail I know I am attempting - and oh look, it's 11:11 and my phone is ringing, more of this universe being funny stuff haha universe I'm trying to make a point
...
....the point is y'all be fucking me up

quit being stupid, I actually believe in people

thanks for your time

In addition to how self-evident the self-evident truths are is how unalienable the certain unalienable rights are. Has anyone tried telling the current pandemic that, according to the laws of Nature and of Nature's God, it's not allowed to taken from us our pursuit of happiness?
