How often Zoro uses the backs of his swords to attack people. Its obvious in some scenes sure, but other times you just see him in a slightly different posture to show that he was using a non-lethal attack.

it's not intentional. his sense of direction is just so poor that sometimes his swords get turned around too.

Once you notice it in one show, you notice it in everything else where a swordsman hits someone without actually cutting them.
