I realize now... it's this small contingent of fuck wits still angry about half a century ago and the oversized influence they wield to swing the biggest "swing state" in the country, and appeasing them at any cost.
It was Obama/Biden that began to melt the diplomatic freeze and engage Cuba, and trump that reversed course. So yeah, I can see why they flocked to Trump, they're single issue voters on an issue (Cuban relations, specifically keeping them nonexistent) that the rest of America doesn't give a shit about.

In any case...I've said all along that Dems are morons to just assume the Hispanic vote is theirs and they can just coast to victories on "shifting demographics". A lot of Hispanics are conservative and/or very religious or otherwise fit into the mold of a Republican voter, they can easily be picked up by Republicans if the party tries.

Regardless of the level of stupid you have to be to think Biden/Harris was a socialist ticket... Socialism isn't "just socialism" in the same way a monarchy isn't "just a monarchy". What a bunch of buffoons. Norway and Venezuela both have a ton of socialism but aren't really comparable. Just like the British commonwealth is still a monarchy with the queen as their head of state, yet it's hardly the same system as Bourbon France.

Cuban history, which often gets muddled a bit due to the USA's interests in Cuba's affairs. Suffice it to say that a lot of Cuban Americans either were or are descended from supporters of Batista, who Castro overthrew (and there is actually a lot of friction between Cuban Americans who are Batistianos/their descendants and those who aren't). There's more to it than that (a lot more) but I don't really want to be giving you a history lesson and having to wade between what a monumental shitbag Batista was, what douchebaggery Castro did, and how the USA seemed determined to fuck with Cuba at every turn (ended up buying them a lot of loyalty from those who fled due to Batista being overthrown, though). If you want to learn more, I recommend starting by doing some looking up of Batista first for context before learning about the revolution or you won't understand what exactly happened and why.

And like teddy said- you really shouldn't conflate Mexican/South American immigrants and refugees with Cuban Americans. They are very different.

Pretty sure all of that is a bit more distant than what is currently being gone for. Pretty sure Democrats right now are going for more affordable healthcare, proper health insurances and slightly better state support for those on the bottom rung, that require that pick-me-up.

Everything free, is probably even a step closer to communism than most actual socialists desire.
