The movie is definitely a top five for me and i've been looking for a book to read for next month. Does the book offer anything the movie doesn't?
I've never read a Stephen King novel. ... Copied to Clipboard!

theyre very very close iirc but its been like 20 years Jeez, yeah, same for me. I did read it and enjoyed it, but its been forever ago. I do not recall it differing all that much from the movie. Theres more of a passage of time and some details about the prison, but nothing too big. The movie was one of the few great Stephen King book to movie adaptions, but not surprising because Darabont also directed Shawshank. --- ... ... Copied to Clipboard!

There is remarkably little difference - the movie follows the book extremely closely, more so than just about any film adaption I can think of. There are a few discrepancies, however: yeah that's what i thought --- i'm Trent B and i get respect your cash and your jewelry is what i expect ... Copied to Clipboard!

The book was infuriating to read. It came out in six tiny parts. I had to buy each one and then wait for the next one.
Worth it but it made the book drag out. My mom got me the collected version for my birthday years later. I still have the original set somewhere, but am happy to have the collected work. --- Its hard being a mom! ... Copied to Clipboard!
