In updated guidance published Sunday, the agency said voters who have tested positive or may have been exposed to the coronavirus should follow the standard advice to wear a mask, stay at least six feet away from others and sanitize their hands before and after voting. You should also let poll workers know that you are sick or in quarantine when you arrive at the polling location, the CDCs website states.

This isn't smallpox. If you (read: everyone) wear a mask and practice Social distancing you won't get infected.

I said this in another topic but clearly they weighed the risk of the spiking of cases over Election Day against the risk of another four years of Donald Trump and they made a call as to which was the greater public health risk.
