lending and borrowing is clearly in congress' wheelhouse. like i know he said he thinks the president can wipe 50k with executive order instead of legislation but i'm not sure how.

it would be politically awful to say "no we're keeping people in debt" but that's about all i can think of.

ah, so it's running the idea that the student debt would be under the DOE, an executive division, and biden can act on it to say they won't collect.

...can see that work, yeah. didn't think of it that way.
i guess the question then becomes what happens after he's gone, can someone re-write it? not that anybody would, that's a dumb idea, but it doesn't seem like a permanent effect. still, there's enough there to make it plausible. i'd be down for saving a few hundred a month. shit, i'd go back to school for another degree if they do that.

I get why they want to party, but maybe social distance a bit? There's still a pandemic going on. I'm sure most of them are wearing masks, but social distancing is just as important.

World Leaders congratulating Biden is pretty big. It makes it harder for Trump to pull anything hinky.

John Kasich is already chomping at the bit to move Biden to the right, and blaming Progressives for this race being 'close'. Nevermind that he didn't deliver Ohio. In fact he didn't really bring much to the table at all. If we want to win elections, we have to actually help people. Show them that we're not just all bluster. Never forget that FDR was able to win 4 elections in a row thanks to popular New Deal programs.

meg whitman in commerce is so incredibly fucking bad. no one expected biden's cabinet to be good, but meg whitman is literally a failed republican candidate. also was the CEO of quibi! the streaming startup that failed during the pandemic, a record setting period of profit and growth for streaming services, whose entire MO as a company was to do everything possible to avoid union regulations.

let's hope this doesn't stick.

Funny enough, I just listened to Andrew Yang on Talk Is Jericho podcast and from the way he was talking, I don't think he anticipates being on the cabinet. I think he wanted to be the Secretary of Labor but... he just kept talking about how he would know whoever would get the position. This was dated like a month or so ago though.
