Yeah, it does hit you in the gut sometimes. And it is awkward at times, but in a good, entertaining and funny way. For anyone who grew up in the 90s/2000s, it's really fun to see because there are a lot of accuracies about that time.

I also really love the dynamic of the two main actresses that are very clearly in their 30s playing 13 year olds. They have great chemistry together.

It relies on the meta awareness of the production but its pretty entertaining especially if you were in middle school in 1999-2000ish

Yeah, they've been friends since they were in college and it shows, especially in interviews.

And as someone who was just about the same age as them in junior high, it's a great nostalgia trip.

I'd say yes, there are a lot of universal themes with adolescence, and even some of the year 2000 things are not that much older than 2003-2005, so they'll likely still connect on some level

I'll probably end up finishing the series tomorrow. This is a show that I've enjoyed enough that I'll be legit sad when there's no more episodes. I hope they plan on continuing the series beyond S2

Just finished Season 2 (of what is out).

Loved it. Can't wait until more episodes drop, probably not until next year though. The show captures that timeframe and the struggles of that age dealing with certain things so well. That last episode hit right in the feels.
