it's highly worrying. they'll just advocate for high risk to confine themselves and avoid people.
yesterday they placed multnomah county on pause (constant 150-200 cases per day) which means they got restricted on some things.

More importantly, if the blue states are supposedly doing so much against the virus, why do they make up half of the states for the highest confirmed cases, new cases, and total deaths? And if they're not locking down or restricting, then why the fuck not?

Blue states make up half the population. Ofc they have half the cases lol. If anything, it should be higher due to how sense it is.

It would help if people could quarantine without the fear of losing their jobs. There are people that still go to work despite testing positive because they need the money.

Because that was mostly from the beginning when the virus blindsided us because of Trump's lack of response and we didn't know how to handle it?

Do you notice all the blue states aren't having issues with the virus anymore when compared to the spiking numbers across the country? It's because we followed the rules.

Georgia is the eighth most populous state in the country but is 9th for deaths, with Michigan catching up. Some smaller blue states like New Jersey and Massachussetts have considerably more deaths. Raw numbers have nothing to do with it.

Prob because the general population doesn't want to. We probably won't hear about it until Biden is in office.

first of all, you're cherrypicking. if you want to look at how well the spread has been controlled, you want to go by total cases, not total deaths, by 1m population. why? because deaths arguably indicates other things, such as population vulnerability, and is less indicative overall of how well the spread was controlled. now, if you look at the relevant metric:

the picture is pretty clear.

All of those states either have democratic governors or democratic state majorities. They weren't called the "blue wall" for nothing.

Showing a few examples out of many is not "cherrypicking." And cases per million skews against smaller states because many of them don't even have their population in the millions. That's why their case graphs are all over the place while the larger states actually have a curve. Also keep in mind that outbreaks in larger areas have a higher chance of transmitting to smaller less prepared areas.

and MA is so bad because it hit the nursing homes here just as bad as NY, but no one talks about that. It was here way before the government said it was, it was just getting diagnosed as flu or pneumonia before anyone was testing for it. Youve got ambulance drivers and doctors and delivery people going to 5-10 buildings per day and people going in and out of the hospital, of course it was going to spread. But it wouldnt have been so bad if Trump actually agreed with science and told people to wear masks. And lying about PPE too, its still limited even though he loves to say the shortage is over

Doesn't make a damn what Trump would have told people.

Some people don't like wearing masks if they have good looks.

See a mask might make someone uncertain on how another person really looks and cause them to be ignored or shunned.

Given that many of his supporters said "Trump said I don't have to wear one" or "He's not bowing down", Trump definitely could have influenced people to behave better

Yeah, it's hilarious that in discussions about the virus, riots and protests never come up. If someone brings them up, they're dogpiled about how the virus doesn't spread in protests because masks and outside.
