Now that the police will be enforcing neolib authoritarianism instead of conservative authoritarianism, will the media/establishment push so hard to defund police now? I'm not talking about your average joe fighting for a good cause, i'm talking about the "official" support the movement had these past months. I'm afraid it will dry up now that we've changed pilots.

Presidents don't control the police, dude.

Now, I do think there's a possibility that Trumps presence and support for police radicalized some liberals' views on police this summer (much like he changed their views on immigration by pushing for harsher treatment and stricter limits). So it's possible that if a George Floyd moment happens under Biden, the movement may not see the widespread support that it did this summer.

I think "defund the police" will make great strides in the way that half the people who say "defund the police" want it to, and will not make great strides in the way the other half want it to.

BLM literally formed during Obama's presidency...

I'm talking about the current push by society at large to defund police. I think this should happen, but I fear now that neolibs are running the show, the powers that be will pull support because it's no longer convenient.

It might lose a little bit, but police violence will continue and so will the protests against it. Liberal politicians and figures will start doing the whole "both sides" thing, though, now that their team have won the presidency. Expect a lot of pearls to be clutched over brutality against citizens and Targets alike.

The fact it was widely acknowledged and talked about by legacy media and politicians is telling. Establishment shills generally tend to bury these things unless directed otherwise.

I fear the defund movement was coopted by the dems to use as a weapon against trump, and now that trump is done, they'll bury it.

The messaging behind defund the police is so consistently terrible that I imagine it's on purpose. Like some shitty plan to try to trojan horse the idea of removing police departments.

It's really the only reason I can imagine that there's so much mixed messaging and no attempt to clarify or unify after so long.

And which one does BLM and antifa prefer? Defund or abolish?

There was a BLM/Police Reform sit-in that closed down the main intersection in my town yesterday.
And though I do agree with the cause, I think the timing was in poor taste.

I attended as an observer for a bit. However, I feel that yesterday was not the day for it.
It was a day for celebration. That one should have been sat out.

~Come back in a week or so when they are not expecting. That way they will know you are not going anywhere.

She will throw cops under the bus in a heartbeat if the optics benefit her, especially if a white cop shoots a black suspect.

Biden straight out said he wouldn't defund the police and he would have police there to talk about criminal reform. Biden never even pretended to support defund the police movement. That was just Trump trying to scare people.
