I haven't tried it since I work remotely (despite my hints they won't send one to me to try out). It's basically a souped-up version of our office chair, which is super comfortable, so I would imagine so.

EIther black, white, or blue (or some combo of those).

And they are very expensive. The cheapest is $555. The most expensive is $999. Does have a 12 year warranty though.

Most "gamers" don't have $555 to spend on a chair, and casual gamer adults wouldn't want a "gaming chair." This thing is going to flop.

I imagine it isn't for the individual gamer but moreso for many in the industry that are still working from home; IGN, Gamestop, Giantbomb, etc.

Gaming chairs dont make sense. You want comfort most don't you? It is usually better to just get an ergonomic chair, though those tend to be very expensive and I guess more than a gamer can typically afford.

Yeah, these chairs are essentially high-end office chairs with a few more gamer-focused functions.

I mean it is for the gamer, but specifically the adult gamer who wants to have a solid chair that also doesn't look like a race car seat in their house/apartment.

i know logitech and them partnered to make a chair, but all it really was was their chair with rgb lights on it. meh.

The new Herman Miller gaming chair is kinda ridiculous. Like the Embody is a damn fine chair, but $1,500 is a crazy amount to spend on a Embody with a different color scheme. Just buy a used Embody from a office surplus retailer for a half that price.

Not really. I'm in the finance department. Occasionally they asked my opinions on a few things since I'm one of the few people who actually plays video games, but I have no interest in stepping on Marketing's toes here.

And honestly the marketing isn't too bad, at least the proposed external stuff. It was more watching a bunch of non-video game people explain to more non-video game people about gamers and streamers and stuff that had me rolling my eyes.

The product itself is good, if pricey.

Real talk. These are just our office chairs with a few modifications and a cheaper (in price, not quality). The best comparison for the mesh versions would be a Herman Miller Aeron, but with better lumbar support and more adjustability.

The M9 is legit ridiculous though. It currently doesn't have an office chair counterpart and if it did we would probably mark it up several hundred dollars more that the gaming chair version (despite being the same). I'm strongly considering getting that one myself.

The hydraulic piece in the up/down elevator on my desk chair just died after 10 or 12 years so I need to get something comfortable.

Whats a good desk chair these days? Comfort is the only thing important.

I'm not sure I'd say overstylized, they are fairly subdued all things considered, but you are absolutely correct that they are re-branded office chairs. They are at a lower-price point compared to the office equivalent.

How often do you spend time in your chair? If it's more than 40 hours a week, it really is worth it to get a quality ergonomic chair. The Herman Miller Aeron or Embody, the Steelcase Leap, or these Mavix chairs (ignore the gamer branding, these are ergonomic office chairs) are all high-quality chairs and if bought new, often come with warranties of about 10 years or more. They might be pricey, but when you consider how much time you are spending in them, it's not a bad price to pay. And any of the above three brands will last at least as long as their warranty, if not longer. Whereas you might have several $200 or less chairs break during that same time period.

If you are looking to save some money, and are less concerned with a warranty, you can typically find most of these chairs, particularly Aerons, on the second-hand market for a greatly reduced price.

You can't go wrong with an Aerons, though at this point, I feel like there are better chair for pure comfort and ergonomic support. But they'll be harder to find at a lower price point than Aerons sit at on the secondary market

Aaah, X-Chair. I've heard of them. TC, these look pretty good actually. And I'm in the market for a new chair, was probably going to pick up a used Aeron this or next week. I'm gonna have to give these a good look.
