My point was that what's important is not necessarily what makes money. One of the comments sums it up well

Or read another way: Red-America produces things that are undervalued and/or have the most competition from imports (food, lumber, manufactured goods, etc). Blue-America produces things that are overvalued or have little competition (specialized expertise, financial assets, etc.)

I guess the farmland in California is in more red areas., but most of our food comes from there. The farmland in the midwest is just growing corn for animal for and high fructose corn syrup, so it's not contributing all that much to the food most people eat

This graph is sort of misleading because not all of those counties heavily favor one candidate. Nassau County for example is 50%% to 49% Trump and may flip to Biden.
