Leonard Nimoy
and
Ken Hensley...

Ken was in Uriah Heep, one of the bands that heavily inspired me to pursue music and singing in my spare time..
I was lucky enough to meet him in Spain many years ago when I was younger.. he was amazed that there were young people that listened to kind of music.. he gave me a press photo and signed it with a personal message..
I'll never forget that moment..
He died this month on the 4th...

David Bowie for sure. I missed school that day because I was really upset. He was my introduction to liking music in my teens.

Steve Irwin. I nearly cried.
Yeah this was a tough one for me too.

This year, both Neil Peart (Rush's drummer) and just the other day Bones Hillman (Midnight Oil's bass player). Awesome players from two of my favorite bands ever.

Yeah it does. Cancer at 62. I guess he didn't even tell the other band members until a week before he went. I was able to see them in 2017 with my daughter, now I'm especially glad I didn't miss it. They have an EP that just came out as well as a new album in another month or so. That'll be the last recording with Bones on it.

Kobe
The way it affected me was so disproportionate to my relationship with him or my affinity for him as a Laker or even an athlete. I know a lot of friends who felt the same way too.

Guess I was just a Kobe fan

This one and Mitch Hedberg both hit me hard.

On the subject of comedians, Patrice O'Neal's death hit me after the fact. I vaguely heard about it at the time, but I didn't know a lot about him. Years afterward I would start to watch some of his stand-up and interviews and realize what a tremendous loss his death was.
