Sometimes when I'm really stoned I liked to watch UFO conspiracy videos and peruse declassified CIA documents. A fellow UFO enthusiast sent me a link to this channel, saying it was a good one that is more grounded (most UFO YouTubers are fucking nuts and believe some crazy stuff with no basis).

Well, his first video is this:
https://youtu.be/pfwricI6nQc

And it's definitely intriguing, but Googling after watching brought me no further information on this "incident". One of the first things I do after watching a UFO conspiracy video is to look at the debunking side of things. Couldn't find it for this video. But I couldn't find anything credible backing it either.

What's more, his second video is on the Philadelphia Incident which is widely believed to be a hoax, and a later video of his (Ringmakers of Saturn) is based completely on the theories of a fringe scientist. So it doesn't lend much credibility to the channel overall. Though the way he frames his videos makes it so he can plausibly deny believing it himself and say he is just presenting claims of others.

Anyone else hear of the Phobos Incident? The actual Phobos 1 and 2 probes are real enough, at least, but is there veracity in the claims made here. What do you think?

Fake as fuck. Anything where the only "proof" are youtube videos and geocities websites are definitive hoaxes and conspiracies.

Barely Sociable has a lot of really good content! That's his side channel. Check out his video on Lake City Quiet Pills. I think it's since been discovered that it's not what it appears to be, but his analysis and the whole thing are pretty interesting!

Pretty sure it's fake too, but since I couldn't find anything one way or the other and the original mission was Soviet, perhaps English-language data is limited. I think if the pictures and the Soviet newspaper he claims as evidence are available then it gives him some credibility, but my search was met with inconclusive results.

The only worthwhile UFO YouTuber I've found is It's [redacted]. They mostly go through declassified CIA and other intelligence files and just analyze them. They link all their sources in the description and none of their analysis ever claims batshit unprovable things. Only channel on UFOs I can confidently recommend.

Nah, it makes perfect sense that there are massive, world-spanning conspiracies that span generations and can manipulate information with perfect accuracy and silence all meaningful dissent or evidence from all credible sources and professionals, and who are willing to kill to keep the secret, yet somehow a handful of armchair detectives with Cheetos-stained fingers can easily expose the entire secret by spending a few hours on Wikipedia and putting all the clues together.

It's almost like most conspiracy theories are just an excuse for sad people to feel superior to everyone else. Sure, you never put any of the clues together because you're all just stupid sheeple, but my superior intellect allowed me to see the truth almost immediately!

I honestly want to believe in some of this shit, and I don't blame some people for believing it. Makes mundane life seem a bit more exciting I guess.

I kinda miss Tyler's videos, but even before his "exit" from the scene it was obvious he was a little out of his mind or playing a character. Towards the end, it was getting pretty obvious he was either mentally ill or an actor as his stories about being "gang stalked" by MiB were getting progressively more and more batshit, as the channel became less and less about ufos and Paranormal phenomenon, and more and more about him.

I feel like it's not that difficult to take a balanced approach to conspiracy theories. Like, you can consider them and find them entertaining without full on committing them to your beliefs. There's very few conspiracy theories that I'd unequivocally support.

I had not seen this particular video before you posted it (though I have seen many of Internet Historian's other videos), but I am familiar with the analysis he presented.

there's so much UFO commentary out there, but you choose to provide a video of a right-wing pundit. Why am I not surprised? Not that I necessarily disagree with the video itself. Just curious if you've ever left your YouTube echo chamber?
