This is a misconception. All you have to do is sync your Pokemon Go Pikachu/Eevee to your Google account and obtain the first badge. You don't have to beat the whole game.

I fucking hate this too. I watch one Bill Burr comedy skit and suddenly Youtube thinks I want to watch 17 videos of "Ben Shapiro OWNS FEMINAZI LIBERALS"

Two ways to do it. In the little dots next to the video title you can click it and tell it you're not interested or say "Don't recommend this channel"

You can also go to the offending video in your watch history and delete it from your history, which will stop your recommendations being influenced by it
