Still playing Valhalla but that seems like a good deal. I hear people call Origins the best AC game pretty often

Yes absolutely. Great protagonist, cool setting, and stellar DLC.

I haven't played Valhalla yet but I have played all the other AC games. Origins might feel like a step back in the gameplay department, the combat is a little rough around the edges and movement is a little clunky at times. But it's what inspired me to actually go through and play ALL the AC games back-to-back. Bayek is a great protagonist, the story is pretty straightforward and the DLC is awesome (well, Curse of the Pharaohs is).

I actually have Odyssey too, but it got placed on the back burner and never returned to. I should give that a try again, as well

Odyssey is just one giant grind fest that has nothing to do with AC. Gameplay feels improved over Origins and they did make a few valuable changes (for instance, you can collect quest items from settlements without having started the quest, which is great for side missions. It is really easy in Origins to clear out a camp, then you travel a couple minutes to get to town, and then you get a quest to go right back to that camp and get an item that wasn't there a few minutes ago). Other than that... it's a fucking slog. They put a lot of effort into the side missions in general and developing minor side characters, but that came at the expense of any decent main story.

Odyssey is way more bloated so I don't blame you for putting it on the shelf. It's also more melee and fantasy-based, so stick to Origins if you really want to feel like an assassin.

No transmog, all outfits are purely cosmetic. No builds or stats whatsoever.

You could look however you wanted in Origins, appearance was purely cosmetic, Odyssey started the whole armor thing.

Yes but IIRC there were no serious active abilities (like no sparta kicking or special archery attacks). You changed your archery style with the bows specifically (equip one type of bow and you can control the arrow mid flight; equip another type and you can get some other effect with it). There's an adrenaline bar but I think it was only used for special power attacks - like in Odyssey the type of the attack depends on the weapon you use.

Combat is also different in that there's a bigger focus on blocking and parrying than there is on rolling around and dodging.

Yes and they are all fairly obtainable. No need to focus on a style for your build.
