They really arent necessary, but famous actors make people want to see the movie. Would be difficult to market a movie created by some tech nerds nobody has heard of.

She'd probably play that role just as well as Josh Brolin played Thanos. Just CGI in a 10 year old boy and have her do the voice over. Remember we're not intentionally hiring different demographics from the character, we're just not discriminating against actors because they have different demographics. They still have to be the best in auditions.
