This. It's all nuance. If my first impression of you is you telling a race joke, you're now in the suspect territory. But if I already know you and you're someone who has never made a racist remark or action outside of jokes, you get the benefit of the doubt. But as soon as you say "All Lives Matter" unironically or some dumbshit that shows your ignorance, any joke with just be pushing the knife in deeper. You better be on the good side of the fight when it actually matters
