I recently started playing Pyre, and finished my first run of the game. It took me a few hours to get into the game, and I almost gave up on it. I'm really glad I stuck with it because once everything clicked I started having fun it was a blast. Unique gameplay, unique story, interesting and fun characters, and beautiful music. If you haven't played it yet I suggest you give it a try. It's a little hard to explain what it is lol. But rest assured it's a good underappreciated game that is made by the same people as Bastion, Transistor, and Hades (haven't played it yet).

For those not familiar with the game, the game continues on even if you lose a match. But it also changes the story a bit. You also have to make a variety of decisions throughout the game for your teammates on who earns their freedom first, and that ends up making a big difference too.

This will be my second run of the game. The first time I restarted a few of the matches because I wanted to win every match. But this time, now on a harder difficulty, I'll accept my defeats (if they happen >_>)...as painful as that'll be. And the consequences that goes with it.

This topic will have some spoilers from here on out! I'll update the topic a few times with my progress.

I'm worried about fighting those jerkish punk cur/dogs, the Dissidents even if they do have an amazing song that is unfitting with the rest of the game lol - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LMZYnOml54. They are so fast and mean to my boy Rukey Greentail.

So far I've won all of the matches...hopefully that trend continues when the liberation rights begin! And then I'll need to figure out who earns their freedom first using a balance of usefulness in combat, how much I'd hate to see them leave, and wanting to set them free in a different order from my first game. >_>;

Hades is amazing fwiw. They really refined the combat from Bastion down to an art form

I have a huge backlog of steam games so usually I don't buy a game unless it's at least 75% off. But I did buy Hades so maybe I'll play that soon!

For Pyre it took me hours to get into the game. It was only when I started getting attached to the characters that I really started to enjoy it. I also didn't care for reading the book - if you skip that it helps keep the game moving at a better pace.

I did a few more matches today and will probably do another liberation rite.
-Lost one normal match to the essence / bird people. They are really hard!
-My boy Rukey feels much better after having his dept forgiven by Barker. I'm glad I won that match - I'd feel awful for Rukey to owe Barker twice as much.

I feel weird for playing the way I'm feeling lol. I freed Tizo this time because he wasn't freed the last time I played. But really, he was perfectly content where he was and had no connection to the Common Wealth.

...Everything is about to get much harder, isn't it? His zipping move was really good.

This is my first time losing (and accepting) a loss at a liberation rite. Soooo I'm not even sure what changes if anything, or how everyone will react.
