According to statistics, most modern families have 2-3kids..but the older generation had as many as 4-5 kids so as you can see modern day families are having less children nowadays compared to the boomer generation..

That's pretty fucking dumb. You wanna encourage the dominant language. My grandparents spoke English as a second language but they only spoke English around their kids so they'd assimilate better.

yup. i took 3 years of spanish in high school. i speak what amounts to kitchen spanish at 42. i understand a lot more than i speak. her (my SIL) family speaks spanish in front of us like we're stupid gringos. it makes me want to punch people at family gatherings, but if i shoot back en espanol, they'll stop speaking about us like we aren't there.

I also have one half brother from my dads side and one from my mums plus more siblings she's probably had. I have nothing todo with these people so who knows?

i have zero tattoos. i grew up deep in townie shit. walking a fine line between Italians, Irish, Puerto Ricans, Haitians, MS13, Surenos, Jamaicans, Albanians, and latin kings.

Kid'll be fine, language-wise. Many pre-schoolers go into kindergarten speaking something else as a first language, but they pick up very quickly. Kids are language sponges until like 8 or 9. Just hold out, brah.

granted, but i can't help but agree with my parents that they're making it impossible for my side of the family to communicate with the child. i speak enough kitchen spanish to get by with my SIL's family, but mom and dad are pushing 70. they're not going to subscribe to duolingo so they can communicate with their grandson. to them, it really is a slap in the face from my brother's wife.

I have four younger sisters. One from my mom and my ex-step-dad, one from my dad and his former girlfriend, and two from my dad and my step-mom. I also have a step-brother (who is coincidentally the same age as me and has a name that rhymes with mine, though we are total opposites) from my step-mom. My sisters are pretty cool. I've smoked weed with half of them.

Just my brother and me. I do kind of wish I had other siblings too. Both my parents come from big families and wanted lots of kids. Complications from the pregnancy with me ruined that for them though. :/

10+. My father really got around. And yeah he's from an older generation. Most of them are half siblings but I have 4 full siblings. One brother and 3 sisters. All of them including the halfs are all way older than me. I was the baby of the entire set.

Actually, that's one of the best ways to make a kid bilingual. That's what most Koreans do to their kids, and most of them turn out bilingual, and turn out fine in school.
