Are you going to stop wearing a mask and social distancing once you get jabbed?

Doctors are saying you should still wear a mask and social distance even when you get the vaccine just for safety precautions and until the numbers and hospital admittance has gone down..there's also worry that these vaccines may be short lived and you may have to get them yearly like flu vaccines and there's also word that moderna's vaccine protects you from the virus but it DOESN'T mean you still can't PASS the virus as you can still be a spreader..

What will you do?

Masks make most people more attractive. Im for keeping them.

Also, I assume everyone is a little bit nicer than than they really are because I cant see their facial expressions. I can project more I guess?

Yeah. Except you can see the less attractive parts when you're home together. It's almost like a catfish. I don't like not being able to see someone's whole face. And that can make it a little harder to read faces... I don't want these forever...

Until I'm satisfied I won't even consider getting a vaccine however if I did and the government guidelines in England let me I'll stop with the mask sure. At the moment we only have to wear them on public transport and in public places such as pubs. Outside of that I don't bother. My City however is in a Tier 3 lockdown indefinitely so pubs and the like are closed.

I admit these maks have certainly helped with my mask fetish.

It's great when people think I'm l been serious when under my mask I'm smirking or smiling at them. They know no different!

Even if I didn't have to both at work and on public transportation, I still would. They've quite grown on me.

Well I doubt restrictions will be lifted.

Most places still require you to wear a mask in NC.

I'll stop when we all stop, or when it's socially acceptable to not wear them. Say the cdc comes out and says we don't have to. Yeah I'll get the vaccine first.

Or we get good contact tracing from Biden and we turn into South Korea or New Zealand with no cases and no masks. Idk why we didn't start with that, we should have consulted South Korea for advice since they've been through this before.

FUCK no! Ordinary vaccines dont even work 100% of the time. This is a little extra security and nothing more

Nah, it's a lot more than that. Being vaccinated will not provide individuals with complete safety, by any means, nor will it prevent them from continuing to transmit it such that they can ignore other infection control measures, but getting a vaccine out to a decent percentage of the population is going to be an absolute game-changer. All other control measures will become unnecessary once a herd immunity threshold is reached, meaning life can return to normal.

Contact tracing really only works in areas with relatively low numbers of cases and very few new ones coming in. When you get unchecked community spread and a thousand new cases each day, it stops being practical to expect people to read an exposure list to determine whether or not they're at risk because that list is just too long. Here in Nova Scotia, we've just hit our second wave (37 new cases on Tuesday, though that seems to have been an outlier and every day since then has been more consistent with the 10-15 of the previous week), but today's exposure list only included 9 locations, and the last two weeks have been averaging about that. It's quite reasonable for people to skim those lists and to identify potential exposures. Prior to this wave (which grew out of a person who failed to isolate properly), we were able to track individual cases and their contacts and pin them down to prevent anything more than small clusters, such that we spent most of June-October with <5 active cases. Even now, we've still only got around 150 active cases, such that case tracking is still helpful, but it's needing to be paired with stricter gathering limits than the freedom we'd been enjoying before.

When you've got 1000 new cases a day, though, and that exposure list includes several hundred different locations, nobody's reading that. Then, you have to rely on distancing, masks, gathering limits, and just plain staying home to try and get case numbers back down to manageable levels. Case tracking just isn't feasible on that scale.

Hey fun fact some customer came up to me today, pulled down her mask, struggling to breathe, literally gasping for air, coughing all over the place, stuck her ugly face in mine before I could back the fuck off and asked for a half pound of turkey.

I slammed that shit in front of her. Never been so angry at a customer. She pulled down her mask to talk to me while she was very clearly trying to cope with "some strange newfound constant suffocation".

Even if contact tracing is not the right step at the moment... I maintain that we should do something dramatic to prevent ..."narcissists associated with no particular group or affiliation"... from killing us and/or damaging our nervous system while we wait for a vaccine that they won't take, other than hoping people change their minds. That's effectively giving up, rolling over, congratulating the "non-associated group of people" for once again getting what they want, and apologizing for being so stupid. At least it is in the mind of a narcissist. We need to consult a more experienced government for help.

And if they call something that isn't authoritarianism, I'll make sure I cry a river, as long as it's being done in the real world. If it is actually authoritarian they won't cry about it.
