All I have to say is that Scar's animated design is far better than the new one.

It was pretty decent. It was kinda of spectacular to watch just for the fact that it does look quite real at times.

There was a few things they took out of the old cartoon one though that killed it for me. Overall, not a bad movie, but the original was better...though some of that could be pure nostalgia.

Dunno what everyone has against this movie though. Its not THAT bad and its not like Aladdin remake which looked atrocious even with Will Smith. This movie was a solid remake, but not better, just different.

Keep forgetting that was a thing. I need to watch it at some point.

Probably just the fact that it felt so unnecessary because it was effectively still "animated", whereas the other live-actions had some people in it (although the Jungle Book was just Mowgli... and Pete's Dragon had always been a mix. The new Pete's Dragon was pretty good, though, and I enjoyed the new Jungle Book.)

I will say that the Aladdin remake had its problems and that Will Smith really couldn't stand up to Robin Williams's performance, but it was alright besides that. The only live-action remake I've seen so far that was a complete dud was Beauty & the Beast... then again, I've only seen Jungle Book, Pete's Dragon, Aladdin, and Beauty & the Beast. I'll mention that I don't think I'll ever bother seeing the new Cinderella, but I will see Dumbo and Lion King eventually (and even Mulan if D+ ever stops charging for it).

I actually thought that was pretty decent. The songs were still good, they did a decent job adapting them and not changing much.

Y'all confirm why I have no desire to see them. What's the point? No one really says they're better and most seem to be at best on par with the animated versions.

Maybe we'll get a decent live action Dragon Ball movie one day though...the Red Ribbon Army arc is gold.

The Pete's Dragon remake was better than the original and I preferred the new Jungle Book to the old one. Plus odds are you haven't seen all of the originals anyway and something doesn't have to be better than the original to be worth seeing.

Some of them are very different. Pete's Dragon bears little resemblance to the source material. The Jungle Book also heavily deviates from the cartoon.

Aladdin has some changes, but it has a lot in common with the original and some of the differences are for the worse (final battle isn't as epic, Jasmine has that terrible "I will not be silent" feminist anthem at the weirdest fucking time, etc)

What are you saying? The part where Jasmine sings a song about how she won't be silenced, followed by her being silenced, is the best part!

Ugh the "live action" remake sucked. Was completely soulless and a pure cash grab. Did it look good? Sure. But as an emotional retelling of hamlet it was garbage.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was, and now what I'm with isn't it. And what's "it" seems weird and scary to me.
