I'm one of the only negative reviews on rotten tomatoes for that movie. Harper is an awful gaslighter and nothing about those parents struck me as unaccepting of gay people. It's the usual holiday clichs, just with lesbian women, and on the city community deserves better than crap repackaged just for them

Harper was awful to her. Like the whole orphan gag? Like omg she already said her parents died when she was 19. The best person in her family was the youngest sister.

I don't think the movie is horrible or anything, but parts of the story were irritating. They don't actually show us how her parents are bad people and almost seem afraid to actually show them being conservative despite them supposedly being that. I get that it's the Christmas movie, but it's going for serious drama at times that's not earned. But I will concede that the movie is fun to watch
