There are still a lot of people like TC who don't seem to realize that TLJ is crap and that they're in the minority thinking it isn't.

Didn't watch it, but I am assuming I disagree with him, because I have literally never heard a negative take on The Last Jedi which I agreed with in any great degree.

I liked it. Benicio del Toro is great. And a space horse is tearing shit up was fun. A bit too much brown color in the scene though.

I'd rather they de canonize the prequels, personally. I still hate the prequels. I actually mostly enjoyed the sequels. there were some things I wish was different but they are not as bad as the prequels

Nope. People who despise it don't realize they're in the minority. Most actual people watched it and said "huh, that was fun" and then went about their lives. Nerd echo chambers are not representative of all people.

but to read multiple ppl itt go "there are no valid complaints against this movie" is vexing

Still better than any of the other sequel movies and all of the prequel movies. People zone in on TLJ when Rise and Awakens are both much worse.

I genuinely thought Awakens was good. I didn't mind a retread to help us get to know new characters, all of whom I really liked in TFA. can't comment on Rise as I haven't seen it

I don't really agree with his base position and I think it sounds like something I'd not want to hear from someone being the creative head of a franchise reboot, if I cared about that franchise. Never played a Doom game, so no comment regarding the specific. I would prefer to be challenged to being pandered to. Which is probably also why I find this idea that video game remakes should be the exact same game, but with updated graphics utterly unappealing.

Last Jedi was still really bad, though, but at least it had themes it was grasping for, and largely failing at reaching. Rise of Skywalker had nothing but indignant reactionism.

Awakens is just a paint by number movie. It's entertaining, which is more than what could be said about the prequels already, but it's not a movie that can stand on its own while TLJ definitely can imo.

This. You can disagree TC but the way you talk is if like you're 13. So many people online talk the same copy cat way and it's absolute shit for discussion. Their only tactic is to say toxic shit to make people not reply back because they're insecure.

Kid me loved Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones. I was too grown up to like Revenge of the Sith when it came out.

Yeah, I was never super into Star Wars as a kid but even I thought the prequels were just okay. I had a lot of the toys because they were great but I don't remember the actual movies having that great of an impact on me.

Star Wars prequels sorta are like Batman Forever or the Jurassic Park sequels. I liked them as a kid and I still find them charming and have a soft spot for them but I know they have a lot of issues and if I watched them as an adult for the first time now I'd probably be really disappointed.

IMO, it's because of the assumption that a logical conclusion: a sequel pointing-to or giving logical answers to problems raised by previous sequels, also would be released.

[ TROS was not that sequel. I encourage anyone who hasn't seen the DOTF screenplay, yet, to go read it; search for "DOTF (1).pdf" ]

I still remember all the hype surrounding the phantom menace before it came out and how excited kid me was for it, then falling asleep in the theater and only waking up when the duel of the fates started at the end.

Probably the best way to watch it tbh

I do remember thinking TPM and AotC were terrible movies when I saw them as a child. My opinion as an adult hasn't really changed much.
